Description
118 Letters written in the three decades leading up to the Holocaust. Two-thirds of the Letters are on Torah-topics, including: Torah learning and financial support, Shabbat observance and family purity- and the consequences to society if Torah is abandoned. The balance are secular Letters sent to the Polish government lobbying on behalf of the Jewish community, including: Opposition to State certification of the Rabbinate, opposition to local community (secular) control of Shechitah, provisions for kosher food for soldiers and Shabbat observance by Jews working for the State. The final two Letters are eulogies on the Chafetz Chayim.
